About the Program Director Role

Harlem Lacrosse hires several new Program Directors each year to deliver an academics-focused, school-based lacrosse program to middle and high school students in Baltimore, Boston, Los Angeles, New York and Philadelphia. You could be an ideal candidate if you are passionate about lacrosse and about helping young people to reach their full potential as athletes, scholars, and citizens.

Responsibilities for the program director role include:

  • Mentoring and tutoring students during daily study halls at the school
  • Planning and leading lacrosse practices
  • Scheduling clinics, games, and weekend events with partner towns and lacrosse clubs
  • Traveling with the team to clinics, games, and tournaments as well as field trips to professional work environments, educational institutions, museums, cultural or historical sites, and outdoor activities (some overnight travel with the team is required)
  • Keeping in constant dialogue with faculty, staff, and administrators at the school site to monitor student progress
  • Recruiting volunteers to help with student services and capacity building
  • Supporting students on their path to college and/or career
  • Collecting data about participants' academic, athletic, and social emotional growth through the program

Starting salary for this position is indexed to cost of living in each of our cities: $47,500 in Baltimore, $49,000 in Boston, $49,900 in Los Angeles, $58,500 in New York, and $46,000 in Philadelphia.
